Wood carvings and woven baskets by Gary Porter.
The Athol Public Library is currently exhibiting carvings, wooden butterflies, and two woven baskets by local artist Gary Porter. He has been a wood worker all his life and at 80 years old is still creating with wood. As foreman of a wood shop, Gary designed tables for Amherst College, the Boston Public Library, and a Presidential Library.
Gary Porter’s work can be seen in the display case located on the second floor of the Carnegie section during the library’s open hours, Monday – Thursday, 9:30 am – 6:00 pm.
