Program: Movie Theaters and Movie Facts of Athol, Massachusetts

Tuesday, November 13, at 5:30 pm, the Athol Public Library will feature a slide presentation by film history enthusiast Jonathan A. Boschen.

Did you know Athol once had TWO thriving movie houses?

On Tuesday, November 13, at 5:30 pm, the Athol Public Library will feature a slide presentation by film history enthusiast Jonathan A. Boschen. Mr. Boschen will present the significance of both theatres to Athol’s history as well as their architectural beauty.

A highlight of the presentation will be historic photographs of the 1930s that have been digitally scanned at a high resolution, enabling attendees to clearly see the ornate details of both theatres up close and help them understand how the two buildings brought joy to our town.

Along with the photographs, Boschen will present background information on the buildings’ architects and owners, as well as film history and Americana that relate to going to the movies in Athol.

Admission to this event is free.
