Are you sick and tired of being sick and tired?

The Athol Public Library will host a public screening of a much-acclaimed movie that has revolutionized and impacted public health: Forks Over Knives.

The movie to be shown examines the profound claim that many of the chronic diseases that afflict us can be controlled or even reversed by a whole-foods, plant-based diet free from animal-based and processed foods.

The movie highlights the research of Dr. T. Colin Campbell, a nutritional biochemist from Cornell University, and Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, a former top surgeon at the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic. On separate paths, their discoveries and ground-breaking research led them to a startling conclusion: Chronic diseases, including heart disease and type 2 diabetes, can almost be prevented, and in many cases reversed – by adopting a whole food, plant-based diet.

The idea of food as medicine is put to the test. The film follows everyday Americans with chronic conditions as they seek to reduce their dependence on medications and learn to use a whole food, plant-based diet to regain control over their health and their lives.

This movie screening is sponsored by the Athol Seventh-Day Adventists Church and the Friends of the Athol Public Library.

Refreshments will be served. Come and join us for this inspiring and life changing screening.

Pre-registration is required by October 8th and can be made by calling the Library at 978-249-9515.

Free and Open to the Public.

To accompany the screening, the Athol Seventh Day Adventist Church has donated the following books to the library: How Not to Die: Discover the Foods Scientifically Proven to Prevent ad Reverse Disease by Michael Greger and Gene Stone; How Not to Diet: The Groundbreaking Science of Healthy, Permanent Weight Loss by Michael Greger, and Forks Over Knives-The Coookbook: Over 300 Recipes for Plant-Based Eating All Through the Year by Del Stroufe.
