Dear PC Doctor:

I use Windows 10 and today my little search box on the bottom of the screen, next to the Windows symbol, stopped working. When I click in there and type the app I’m looking for, a black box opens and nothing else. I can’t find the apps I need, like Word and Notepad. How do I get my search feature back?

Signed,

Dear Searching:

To get your search box back, hold down the Control, Shift, and Esc keys at the same time. The Task Manager Window will open. Click where it says More details at the bottom. Look under the heading Background Processes. Find Cortana. Highlight Cortana and choose End Task. Your search box should work properly now.

I hope this helps!
Until next time,
Happy Computing!
