Event: Library Legislative Breakfast at the Athol Library

Friday, 2/27, registration and refreshments begin at 7:30 a.m.

On Friday, February 27 at 8 a.m. librarians, library trustees, library supporters and community members are invited to the Athol Public Library to meet with state legislators for one of the statewide legislative breakfasts being held in February and March. Registration and refreshments begin at 7:30 a.m. This year’s theme is “Opportunity for All”. Tours of the renovated library facility will be available by staff after the program concludes.
Those scheduled to attend and make a few remarks are: Senator Anne Gobi, Representatives Susannah Whipps Lee, Todd Smola, Jonathan Zlotnik, Mark Carron and Kimberly Ferguson. Commissioner Alice Welch of the Massachusetts Board of the Library Commissioners, Mass Library System Director Gregory Pronevitz and MLS Board member Margot Malachowski will be in attendance. Jennifer Woodward will be representing C/W MARS.
Local librarians and trustees will update lawmakers with the invaluable contributions their libraries make to education, digital literacy, and workforce development and emphasize the importance of funding this valuable resource. Library users and supporters are welcome to share their positive library experiences with their local legislators.
Librarians are eager to work with Massachusetts legislators to better inform the public about how libraries and library services are an asset to any community. To register for the breakfast, please call 978-249-9515 or email info@athollibrary.org.
