Dear PC Doctor:
I recently reorganized my office. I moved everything around, including my computer and printer. When I plugged in my printer, it made sounds like it was going to work. But when I send it print jobs they do not come out. When I looked in my Devices and Printers folder on my computer, I saw that the printer is listed under Other Devices, instead of under Printers. I tried to run the Troubleshooter but it didn’t solve my issue. Do you have any ideas?
Thanks,
Madge
Dear Madge:
It shouldn’t be so, but sometimes, simply unplugging and moving your equipment can change things. Here are a few things you can try. In your Control Panel, go to Devices and Printers. Right click the picture of your printer and choose Remove device. Unplug your printer from your computer. Plug it back in. Your computer may discover the printer and fix the issue. (Give it a try.) If not, Click on Add a printer from the top of your Control Panel box. If your printer still doesn’t print, do an online search for the printer driver for your printer make and model and operating system. Download and install that. Some applications require Java to print; you may also want to install the latest Java update.
I hope one of these will solve your issue, move your printer from Other Devices to Printers, and enable you to print!
Until next time,
Happy Computing!
