Dear PC Doctor:
Help!
My computer won’t work. When I turn it on, I get a black screen that says something like “Windows failed to load.” I think it asks for discs but the screen flashes so quickly that I can’t read everything. It begins starting Windows but then goes back to that black screen and cycles through all over again. My computer is completely unusable. Is it toast? Do I need to buy a new one or can this be fixed?
Dan
Dear Dan:
I can’t be completely sure what’s wrong with your computer. I looked up “Windows failed to load” and saw this: "Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer.
2. Choose your language settings, and then click "Next."
3. Click "Repair your computer."
If this is the message you see on your computer,
Find your installation discs and follow the instructions. This should work. I have had to do this before and have had success. Good luck!
Until Next time,
Happy Computing!
