The Athol Public Library will be open on Saturday, September 17, 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., during the Downtown Fall Festival.
The Friends of the Library will be holding a book sale with gently used books selling for $1.00 or less. Come in and browse to pick up some bargains! Greeters will be available to give tours of the new library to anyone who has not visited before.
A story walk, courtesy of Valuing Our Children, will be set up in Millers River Park behind the library, with a related craft in the library. Free for children of all ages – take a little walk, read a great story, enjoy a craft together.
Saturday will also be the opening day of the new art exhibit. The exhibit for September 17 – October 28 will feature works by local artist Ida Waslaske. Ida Waslaske will be 96 on her next birthday and has not painted for the past few years due to failing eyesight. Paintings on display have been loaned by generous owners of her works, including one on loan from Ida herself.
The library will also be open for regular library business, including computers, toys, newspapers, and borrowing of books and movies.
