Introduction to Writing Picture Books!

Are you an adult or a teen (14+) interested in writing and/or illustrating for young children?  Join award winning children’s book author and illustrator Jennifer E. Morris as she shares her process for creating picture books for young readers.  Whether you are interested in being published or just want to write books for your own friends and family, Jennifer will show you how to take your story ideas and turn them into picture books that little ones will enjoy.

Attendees will learn: What is the appropriate word length and page count for a picture book manuscript? Should picture books rhyme all the time? What is a picture book dummy? Why is it important? How does the children’s book industry work?  What is the difference between self-publishing and traditional publishing? How do you submit a story to a publisher?

Jennifer will have a small number of books for sale at the presentation and she will be available to sign books after the presentation as well.

Jennifer E. Morris is a best-selling children’s book author and illustrator.  She has written and illustrated books published by Scholastic, Albert Whitman & Co., and Tilbury Press.  There are over one million copies of her books in print.
