National Library Week 2017!
Transform your ideas about the library: celebrate National Library Week April 10 - 14.
This week, the Athol Public Library joins libraries in schools, colleges, and communities nationwide in celebrating the many ways libraries are transforming the world every day through the services and invaluable expertise they offer.
National Library Week is a time to highlight library services, librarians and library workers. Libraries aren’t only a place of quiet study, but also creative and engaging community centers where people can meet and collaborate, using technologies new and old.
The Athol Public Library is celebrating National Library Week with the following exciting events:
Monday, April 10: LEGO Club for children in grades 1 and up, 3:30
Tuesday, April 11: Minecraft Club for children in grades 5 – 8, 3:00 (registration required)
Tuesday, April 11: Book Discussion: Make Me by Lee Child, 6:30
Wednesday, April 12: Preschool Story Time, 10:15
Wednesday, April 12: Teen Coloring Club, 4:00
Thursday, April 13, Chess Club, 3:30
Thursday, April 13: Fashion in Fiction, 6:30 (registration required)
Friday, April 14: Coffee and refreshments
All week long:
Art Exhibit: Pastel Landscapes by Janet Palin
Used Book Sale with many recent additions!
Marshmallow peeps diorama contest (ask in the Children’s Room for details)!
National Poetry Month activities in the Children’s Room!
Teen Book Find Challenge!
A Guessing Contest for all ages
Fun prizes when you borrow library materials!
Some programs require pre-registration. Please call 978-249-9515 for details and to sign up.
Additionally, the library trustees have agreed to waive the fines on all books returned during National Library Week!
First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country each April.
