Millers River Plein-Air Art Show

The art exhibit for June at the Athol Public Library is sponsored by the Millers River Watershed Council.  Artists were invited to submit a plein-air painting of the Millers River for the display.  Tom Kellner, artist and member of the Watershed Council facilitated a Saturday morning painting session of the river in the park behind the library at the end of May for anyone interested in joining him.

The nearly 20 beautiful views of the Millers River, all created outside in a variety of places along the river, will be on display through June in the Athol Public Library's downstairs conference room.  The Watershed Council enlisted three judges to choose winners in three categories.  Ribbon winners were: Best in Show to Gail Oswald of Royalston (pastel), 1st Place to Lucille Kumstis of Athol (watercolor), and 2nd Place to Bruce Dean of Princeton (oil). Other artists exhibiting are:  Nancy White Horse Burnham, Randy LaSage, Jean Murphy, and Tom Kellner.  All the paintings are wonderful, a great reminder of how beautiful the river is, and worth stopping in to enjoy.
