RESCHEDULED - Author visit - March 1st at 6:30
On Tuesday, 3/1/11, Michael Tougias will discuss his newest book, Overboard
The Athol Public Library welcomes
author Michael Tougias
Tuesday, March 1 from 6:30 to 7:30p.m.
*Note new date!*
Tougias will be discussing his newest book, Overboard, the true story of the crew of the sailboat. The five crew members left Connecticut in May of 2005 for Bermuda. A massive storm struck and the captain and first mate were swept from the boat and carried away by huge seas. The three remaining crew members somehow were able to remain on the vessel which was being torn apart by the seas. The complex and risky Coast Guard rescue was later selected as the search and rescue case of the year.
Tougias uses slides of the storm, the sinking sailboat, the crew, and the rescue missions to bring the story to life. He is the author and co-author of 19 books. Visit www.michaeltougias.com for more information. A book signing will follow the program and the presentation is suitable for all ages.
The program is funded by the Friends of the Library. Refreshments will be served.
