Dear PC Doctor:

I let someone else use my Apple TV+ account and now I feel weird about them having access to my Apple ID. Can I change it? What will happen to the things I purchased with that account?

Thanks,

Regretful

Dear Regretful:

Good news! You can change your Apple ID without losing access to your contacts, purchases, or other account information. Here’s what the Apple support website says:

First, go to https://appleid.apple.com/and sign in. In the Account section, choose Edit. Then, choose Change Apple ID. Enter the email address that you want to use. (It will need to be different from what you used before.) Choose Continue. Check your email for a verification code, then enter the code. Learn what to do if you didn't get the email. If you use services like iCloud or Messages to share with friends and colleagues, sign in to those services with your updated Apple ID.

Alternatively, you can change the password for your Apple ID. To do that, open any web browser and navigate to https://appleid.apple.com/ Sign in to your Apple ID with the old credentials. In the Security section, click Change Password. Enter your current password, then enter a new password and confirm the new password. Click Change Password. Sign in with your new Apple ID password to access Apple features and services.

Either way, your friend won’t have access to your account anymore.

I hope this helps!
Until next time,
Happy Computing!
