Dear PC Doctor,
I used Mozilla Firefox to download some pictures that I wanted to save on my computer. I'm not sure if it worked since I can't find the pictures anywhere on my computer. I looked in My Pictures, where the rest of my pictures are usually saved but I don't see them. Can you help me out?
Greg
Dear Greg,
Internet browsers typically save (as a default) to the Downloads folder on your computer. Depending on which version of Windows you're running, it might be in a different spot. On Windows 7, click the Start Orb. In the menu that appears click on the username of your computer in the top right. This opens a personal folder that contains all your major folders: Pictures, Documents and... Downloads! Double click on the Downloads folder and check out to see if you can find the missing files! You can then transfer (copy and paste) those files to the appropriate place, like your Pictures folder!
If you want to change the default location for Firefox to download to, click on File (or depending on your version of Firefox) or the orange Firefox button in the upper left corner. In the menu that appears click on “Options”. In the Options window, click on the General tab. Under the heading of “Downloads” you can change the default download folder. Just click “Browse” and find the folder you wish to download to! You can also select “Always ask me where to save files” and Firefox will ask you to choose where you want to put your download each time you perform the function. This is pretty handy since sometimes I want to save pictures to a specific folder while I want to save my music to another folder.
