Dear PC Doctor:
I’m hiring someone to help me with a problem – We are meeting via telephone rather than in person. I have some documents on my google drive that I’d like them to see. I would print and mail them, but my printer is old and doesn’t make good looking prints. Can you suggest other ways I could share them with the person helping me? Could I text them?
Thanks,
Callie
Dear Callie:
You mentioned that you were working together via telephone. If you both have smartphones, you could take photographs of each of the documents and either text them or email them to your helper. You also said that you have them uploaded to your google drive. You could share them that way, too.
To share a file from your google drive, log into your account. Click “Drive.” Double click the files or folders to which you want to grant them access. On the top right, you will see 6 icons. Click on the three vertical dots just to the left of your profile picture. If you want the other person to be able to make changes to the documents, click “Add collaborators.” On the line that says “Add people and groups,” you can enter the email address of the person who is helping you. You will see that the person is listed as an editor of the files. If you want them to be able to see but not change the files, click the big purple “Send” button and fill out the form.
I hope this helps!
Until next time,
Happy computing!
