Dorothy Johnson Reading and Book Signing
Tuesday, November 16 at 6:30 pm.
Dorothy Johnson, author of My Heart Remembers, will visit the Athol Public Library to discuss her work and give a reading. Playwright and poet Johnson has regaled, captivated, and challenged many audiences over the years. She visited the Athol Library several years ago when her previous book of poetry, A Swift River Anthology, was released. Attendees found her to be a great storyteller!
Anna Mundow, who penned the book’s foreword, says this about My Heart Remembers:
Some of the poems here are like good jokes. They take us by surprise - ever thought about gravity and . . . gravy? Others touch the heart, as Dorothy, in her dedication, imagines cardiac surgeons doing when they replaced her leaky valve. Still others capture the anxieties and absurdities of our current times. But thanks to Dorothy's light touch - which has been perfected over a lifetime of reading and writing - the overall effect, whatever the subject, is delightful.
My Heart Remembers is available at dorothyjohnson.net and from online vendors as well as at New Salem General Store and Haley’s. The book will also be available for purchase at the event on November 16.
The presentation will be held in the library’s Program Room on Tuesday, November 16, and will begin at 6:30. It is free and open to the public. Registration is appreciated – Please call 978-249-9515 to reserve your spot.
