Thursday, September 15 @ 6:00 pm.
Join the Athol Public Library at 568 Main Street, Athol, on Thursday, September 15, 2022 from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m., as we welcome Betty Sanders for Wrapping Up Your Garden.
She offers a four step program built around ‘must dos’, ‘should dos’, ‘could dos’, and ‘don’t dos’ that ensure your garden gets off to a great start next spring. To make life easier, don’t rake your lawn but mow it. The chopped-up leaves will disappear into the grass and break down over the winter, adding nutrients to the soil in the spring. Have you planted all the daffodils you bought before the ground freezes? Have you dug up and stored inside your non-hardy bulbs? These and many more tips on putting this year’s garden to bed and preparing the garden for next year will be covered in this lecture.
Betty Sanders is a lifetime Master Gardener with the Massachusetts Master Gardner Association as well as a nationally accredited Master flower show judge. She has done her gardening lectures at the New England Spring Flower Show, the Boston Flower & Garden Show, the Massachusetts Horticultural Society, the Tower Hill Botanic Garden, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, as well as hundreds of garden clubs, civic organizations, and public libraries.
Free and open to the public. Registration required! This program was sponsored by the Institute of Museum and Library Services Dig - In Grant.
