Beginning April 1. All Ages.
A partial solar eclipse will be visible from Athol on April 8, 2024, beginning at 2:14pm and ending at 4:38pm. We will be able to see the eclipse reach 95% at 3:28pm. This is an incredible natural phenomenon that won’t be visible again in the United States until 2044.
In order to view the eclipse directly, you must use special eclipse glasses that comply with the ISO 12312-2 international standard. The Athol Public Library will be offering free eclipse glasses (one per person) on a first come/first serve basis beginning on April 1st.* Due to limited availability, patrons will not be able to reserve glasses.
Join us for an Eclipse Viewing Party (weather permitting) outside the library on Monday, April 8, from 2:30 – 4:30. Watch the eclipse with friends and neighbors in the park. The Friends of the Library will provide eclipse glasses and freeze pops.**
*Glasses will NOT be available prior to April 1.
**While supplies last.
