On Saturday, October 5, the Athol Public Library and Hero Shack Press are teaming up for the return of Comic Book Fest. The Athol Town Hall will be transformed into a comic book lover’s dream. With comics, artist panels, vendors, cosplay, games, crafts, and more there will be something for everyone at this family friendly event.

This year 20 local and independent artists and authors will be showing their work in Liberty Hall. His and Hers Comics and Holey Moleys will be selling pop culture items including mainstream comics while the Friends of the Athol Public Library will be selling snacks and refreshments. The Athol Teen Advisory Council, Athol Area YMCA, Launch Space, and Valuing Our Children will also be in attendance to join the fun. In addition, visitors can look forward to a guess who challenge, an anime themed scavenger hunt, Star Wars trivia, and a Minecraft themed craft.

During the festival there will also be three artist panels and two live drawing demonstrations by the main stage. Later in the afternoon guests of all ages can show off their costumes and handiwork during the afternoon’s all ages cosplay contest. Registration for the contest ends at 12:45 and the contest begins at 1pm. A full schedule of events will be available on the library’s website and social media pages prior to the event.

As they participate in the activities and visit the various artists, visitors will have the opportunity to earn tickets that they can enter into raffles for signed prints, exclusive comics, collectibles, and more.

The Comic Book Fest will take place at the Athol Town Hall, 584 Main Street, on Saturday, October 5. Visitors of all ages are welcome to stop by and enjoy the festivities from 10:00am to 3:00pm. Admission and activities are free and open to all ages.
