Comic Book Fest This Saturday

The Athol Public Library and Hero Shack Press are busy with preparations for the upcoming Comic Book Fest on Saturday, October 5. The festival will take place at the Athol Town Hall. This all ages event will be a comic book lover’s dream with twenty New England based artists, drawing demonstrations, artists' panels, vendors, a cosplay contest, games, crafts, and more.

Comic Book Fest will feature free activities for all ages. There will be themed crafts and games including an anime scavenger hunt, a guess who challenge, a Minecraft craft, Star Wars trivia, and more. An Artists’ Alley will be set up in the town hall where visitors can meet artists and authors Mike Waggoner, Joe Medeiros, Amy Gleason, Andrew and Kayleigh David, Robert Noberini, Bill Larose, and Hans Rickheit among others. Local vendors Holey Moley’s Comics & Collectibles and His & Hers Comics will also have comics and collectibles for sale.

There is a line up of mini events to keep guests engaged throughout the day. At 10:30 Christopher Tamulevich will be leading a drawing demonstration. At 11am there will be an artist panel featuring Patrick Brigham, PJ Curling, Scott Harris King, and C.L. Bedell followed by a demonstration of how to draw your pets at 11:30am with Peter Stewart. The second artist panel at 12pm will feature Christopher Tamulevich, Keith Gleason, Johnny C, and Gary Henderson. Mary Dumas, Mac Maclean, Joseph Graves, and Peter Stewart will be highlighted in the final artist panel at 12:30. Then, at 1pm, contestants for the all ages cosplay contest will show their looks to the audience and judges.

As they participate in the free activities and meet the guest artists, visitors will have the opportunity to earn free tickets that they can enter into raffles for signed prints, card games, pop culture collectibles, and more.

The Comic Book Fest will take place at the Athol Town Hall, 584 Main Street on Saturday, October 5. Visitors of all ages are welcome to stop by and enjoy the festivities from 10am to 3pm.
