This fall, eight teens between the ages of 12 and 18 submitted stories to the library's first Scary Story Contest. They wove tales of haunting dreams, dark waters, bewitching spas, twisted rooms, mischievous cats, ancient ancestors, taunting phone calls, and terrifying trips home. Library staff were thoroughly impressed by the teens' creative works.

Judges struggled to narrow their favorites down to just three entries but ultimately came to a consensus. First place went to Trust by Alina Cisneros, while second and third place were awarded to Remember Where You Came From by Kaitlyn Rossi and The Feline Horrors by Gilead Alderman Sterste.
