It’s FREE tree time! Athol Public Library is partnering with Neighborhood Forest to provide free trees for kids to plant during Earth Week. ???? Parents/guardians, sign your child up for a free tree by March 15th! Trees are set to arrive in time for Earth Day 2025. We will be in touch with you regarding when you can come and pick up your tree! ??

Frequently Asked Questions:

Do I have to be a resident of Athol to receive a free tree?
You do not have to live in Athol to receive a tree--however, you must be available to pick up your tree at the Athol Public Library when the trees arrive in mid-late April. Additionally, the trees are chosen specifically for our region, so the place where you plant the tree should be in the general region of Athol.

Why does the form ask for my child's teacher's name?
Neighborhood Forest works with schools as well as libraries--you may skip this field in the form. The only required questions are indicated with an asterisk*.

What if I want to make a cash donation?
The Neighborhood Forest form gives you the option to donate money to their organization. We cannot accept cash donations on their behalf. However, you can always donate cash to the Friends of the Athol Public Library at any Athol Library circulation desk. The Friends of the Library make our free programming possible!

How do I get my tree?
You will receive an email and a phone call when the trees are available for pickup. After we have contacted you, visit the Children's Room, tell us your name, and take home your sapling!
