The Athol Public Library is a Great Reads MA 2025 partner! This year’s featured book is Stamped from the Beginning: A Graphic History of Racist Ideas in America by Ibram X. Kendi, adapted and illustrated by Joel Christian Gill.

This stunningly illustrated graphic-novel adaptation explores the living history of America and how we can learn from the past to work toward a more equitable future.

Join us on Thursday, September 11 at 5:00 (chapters 1 and 2) and/or Tuesday September 16 at 5:00 (chapters 3 - 5) for a discussion series on the graphic-novel Stamped from the Beginning: A Graphic History of Racist Ideas in America by Ibram X. Kendi, adapted and illustrated by Joel Christian Gill. Participants in the book discussion will then get to attend a virtual author visit on September 25 at 6:00.

Participants will be provided with a free copy of the graphic novel and will have the opportunity to ask the graphic novelist questions in a virtual Q&A session in September! This discussion series is part of the 2025 MA Great Reads program, sponsored by the Massachusetts Center for the Book.

Free and Open to the Public.

For ages 12 through adult.

Registration required. Please see Emily or Robin S. to sign up and get your copy of the book.
