Program:
Tuesday, May 7 @ 6:00 p.m. at 82 Freedom St.
The Friends of the Athol Public Library are hosting a slide talk, “Behind the Scenes,” about the Athol Public Library construction project on Tuesday, May 7th at 6 p.m. Library Director Deb Blanchard will be presenting. The presentation is open to the public and will be held at the Senior Center location next to Ocean State Job Lot.
The Friends of the Library will hold their Annual Meeting first (approximately 10 minutes) and then the presentation will start. Everyone is invited to attend.
Since the town’s vote to approve a debt exclusion for the town’s share of building a new library and the award of an MBLC state construction grant, a lot has happened. The Library Director has had the unique opportunity to attend weekly construction meetings at the job site and document the progress during the walkthrough portion of the day and would like to share the photos with you.
Other interesting events included in the presentation are the Shopping Cart Parade, the move to the Senior Center, the Speakeasy, Groundbreaking and Topping Off. Refreshments courtesy of the Friends.
Shown in the photograph is the gorgeous view to the Miller’s River looking across the steel deck for the second floor of the new library where Ben McCullough (left) and Josh Sonntag of D.A.Sullivan & Sons of Northampton work with Dublin Steel of Palmer to ready the deck for concrete pouring.
