Echoes of Africa Raffle to Benefit Library Renovation Project
The books were donated by Haley’s. Two winning tickets will be drawn on May 21. (Each winner will get 1 copy.)
Today through 5/21, the Friends of the Athol Public Library are
raffling off 2 copies of the new book 'Echoes of Africa: North
Quabbin Perspectives on the Second Largest Continent,' compiled by Mary Ann Devita Palmieri and Marcia Gagliardi.
The books were donated by Haley's. Two winning tickets will be drawn on May 21. (Each winner will get 1 copy.)
In addition to the book, each winner will get a unique item from
Africa: either a calabash water dipper from Liberia donated by Anne Cutler-Russo (and collected by her during her service in the Peace Corps), or a 1930s-era ebony carving from Nigeria donated by Haley's.
Tickets will sell for $1 each or 6 for $5.
Proceeds will go to the library renovation.
These items were donated to complement the upcoming (May 21) Athol Library program 'Echoes of Africa,' at which some of the authors will give a slide talk about their travels in various African countries. (More information about the program will follow at a later date.)
