Dear PC Doctor,

Would it be possible to set my Mac to turn on at the same time every morning without me needing to press the power button?

             Alex

Dear Alex,

Yes!  There is a way to set a schedule for your Mac to turn on at a certain time and even turn off at a scheduled time.

Click on the Apple menu in the menu bar at the top of your screen.  Click on System preferences and then Energy Saver.  Next click on Schedule.  There's a few different options available for you to use, including designating a Start up or wake time, a shutdown time, a sleep time or a restart time.  You can even set the days of the week it operates on the schedule.

In the first selection, you can select the Start up or wake by checking the box.  Select when during the week you'd like the schedule to run and then input a time.  If you'd also like to designate a shutdown time, check the bottom box and repeat the process by choosing a daily or weekly schedule and then a time.

Just a tip: your computer has to be awake and logged in, in order for the computer to shutdown automatically.

Good luck!

Until next time… happy computing!
