Dear PC Doctor,

Recently I've had to update my two email accounts.  There are several things that I don't like but here are the two most annoying.  In my hotmail account when I compose a message, I have to keep waiting for the PC to catch up with my typing.  I've only had this problem since upgrading.  Also, when I hit "send" it seems to get stuck in the "done" mode.  Sometimes I can just proceed on and things work out OK but I think sometimes my emails don't go through when I do that.  I also have the slow typing problem in my Yahoo account.  I'm running Windows XP with IE8.  Thanks for any help.

Dear Audrey,

Unfortunately, the slow typing doesn’t seem to be an uncommon experience when using the new version of Hotmail/Outlook especially in IE8.

First, let’s try clearing your browser’s cache and temporary internet files.  Click Tools in your menu bar, then “Delete Browsing History”.  In the new window that opens check only the box for “Temporary Internet Files” and then click Delete.  Restart your browser and try again.  If this solution works for you, you may want to delete your temporary internet files more often.  Under Tools once again, click on Internet Options.  Under Browsing history check the box for “Delete temporary files, history, cookies, saved passwords and web form information” and click Apply then close out the window.

However, if none of this works, you may want to try using a different browser.  Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome are both great web browsers that are completely free to download and use.

Good luck!
