Dear PC Doctor:

I have been receiving phone calls pertaining to problems with my computer now for months. They usually say they are from Windows and something is wrong with my computer, but lately they say they say they are from Microsoft. Today I was called by someone, who left a message, saying they are with Microsoft and that my windows license key will be expiring, and that I should call them. I have just been hanging up on them and I hope I am correct in doing so.

What do you think?

Thanks,

Dear [nw]

According to the Better Business Bureau (bbb.org), Microsoft will never proactively reach out to you to provide unsolicited PC or technical support. Any communication must be initiated by you. So, no good can come from talking with those folks who are calling you, or from calling them back. You are wise to hang up.

I hope this helps.
Until next time,
Happy computing!

PC Doctor
