Dear PC Doctor:

I often copy and paste things from emails that people send me for newsletters or other documents that Im working on.  More often than not, there are all kinds of weird formatting and I have to go in and delete everything I dont need.  The way things are now, Im sure there must be some kind of short cut or trick to help me out and save some time.

            Paul

Dear Paul:

Try this after you copy and paste the text into your document, select the text you want to fix or change, and then hit the Control key together with the Spacebar (Ctrl+Spacebar).  This should strip out the formatting.

Dear PC Doctor:

Is there any way to print out my contacts from Windows Mail?  I would like to just see them on paper so I can double check them and also have a backup.

            Brian

Dear Brian:

The options are kind of limited but you can get a list.  Go to the Start Orb, choose All Programs and then Windows Contacts.   To print the whole list, click on the first name and hold down the Control (Ctrl) key and then click the letter A which will select everyone on the list.  Now you will choose Print from the upper bar where you will find you have a choice to print from the following options: Phone List, Memo or Business Card.  The one that would probably be the best for what you want is Business Card.

Your only other option would be to export your contacts into something like Excel then you can sort the way you want it.

Dear PC Doctor:

Im a teacher in a school and I would like to do a presentation in PowerPoint about using the Internet.  It would be nice to be able to have a picture of the computer screen that the students would see on their own computer.  Is there a way to do that?

                                    Donna

Dear Donna:

The easiest way to do this is to display the screen you want to capture and hit the Prnt scrn or print screen key.  On some computers, hitting the control key + print screen will work as well.  Then you would open up a word processing or publishing package such as Microsoft Word or Publisher, or in your particular case, PowerPoint.  Either go up to Edit on the menu bar and select Paste or hit Control + V (which are the shortcut keys for paste).  Your window should display and you can make it larger and smaller by grabbing the corners with your cursor and resizing.

Until next time& happy computing!
