Dear PC Doctor:
I have a new Windows 10 computer. I wanted to install any Windows updates that might be available, but when I ran the check for new updates I got this error: 0x80070422. It said “There were some problems installing updates.” What can I do?

Dear Frustrated:
First, make sure you are logged into your computer with an account that has administrative privileges. (If it is your computer and there are no other accounts, this is likely the case.) Next, make sure Windows Updates are “enabled.” To do this, go to the Start menu at the bottom of your screen. Type Control Panel in the box. In the Control Panel, open Administrative Tools. Double click Services. In the Services list, find Windows Update. Right click Windows Update and choose Properties. If you want your updates to be automatic, choose General, then Automatic where you see Startup. Click Start.
I hope this helps!
Until next time,
Happy computing!
