Dear PC Doctor:
How do I disconnect my iMac from iCloud? It’s driving me crazy! I have been making videos on my iPhone for work and, right in the middle of filming, the phone chimes and tells me that my iCloud storage is almost full! I didn’t ask iCloud to store anything! I back up my whole computer daily, via Time Machine and an external hard drive. (My OS is Catalina.)
Thanks, Jem
Dear Jem:
To turn off iCloud, go to your iMac’s apple menu on the top left of your computer screen. Choose System Preferences and then Apple ID. Then, click iCloud. You should get a window that shows each feature of your system that’s backing up to iCloud. There will be a check box next to each feature. Uncheck each one that you no longer wish to have back up to Cloud.
As always, it’s recommended that you make a separate back up of any important files before turning off iCloud. You can back them up to a flash drive, a folder on your hard drive, or the external hard drive that you have.
I hope this helps!
Until next time,
Happy Computing!
