Dear PC Doctor:

I am the social media secretary for my club.  Because our members use lots of different sites (website, Facebook, etc.) I spend a lot of time posting to each of our accounts.  Since this is a volunteer gig, I am hoping there’s some way to streamline this work.  In particular, can I set our club twitter account so that it just automatically picks up our Facebook posts?  That would save me a lot of time.  What if my Facebook posts are bigger than the number of characters twitter allows?

      Thanks, Sarah

Dear Sarah:

Yes!  Twitter will allow you to link your twitter feed to your Facebook posts so you only have to enter the information once.

Here’s how: Sign in to your twitter account.  Click on the picture you selected for your group’s account profile, then click “Settings.” You should see a menu on the left side of the screen.  Click on “Apps.” You will see two apps for Facebook.  One will post your tweets to Facebook, the other will tweet your Facebook posts to twitter.  Choose the second one.  It will prompt you to enter your Facebook user name and password.  Follow all the prompts and choose which parts of your Facebook posts (status updates, photos, etc.) you want send to your twitter feed.  If your post is too long, twitter turns it into a link to your Facebook page. Voila!

Until next time … Happy computing!
